Katherine Lennon, Registered Psychotherapist
I use a combination of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and interpersonal methods. This action-oriented approach provides support and practical feedback to help you effectively address life challenges. We explore past events only as they are relevant, but will not dwell on the past; instead, I am interested in helping you stay in the present and focus on moving towards creating the kind of future you look forward to living.
I integrate complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach. With compassion and understanding, I will work with you to help you build on your strengths and attain the personal growth you are committed to. Also, I use a holistic wellness approach, as I believe that your overall lifestyle influences your mental health. Specifically, I will offer strategies to improve your bio-psycho-social well being. For example, proper nutrition, quality sleep habits, benefits of regular exercise, the importance of a healthy friend/family support network, and leisure activities that are rewarding and re-energizing.

Pronouns She/Her
Hi There! My name is Lee and I am excited to be a new associate here at Cobourg Counselling. I am a former primary school teacher with special needs experience, particularly with children and youth. I am an RP Qualifying with the CRPO and am working on my thesis with art therapy and children living with autism and expect to graduate in the spring.
Many people ask me “What is Art Psychotherapy?”
Typically I work with clients that want to improve their mental wellness and physical wellbeing through creativity. You and I together choose specific art activities that are clinically proven to be helpful to your specific concerns that you may enjoy and we explore what is helpful and find creative strategies to support improving your mental health. We can focus on the present and find ways to help you cope with symptoms and challenges you are experiencing right now. We can also work through past traumatic events, if you wish, to support your current situation. Art Psychotherapy is a combination of creative work in order to support the psychotherapy journey.
In addition to Art Psychotherapy, I do traditional talk psychotherapy with children and youth and their families or anyone who is experiencing challenges.
I am available to do in person sessions in Cobourg at the Cobourg Counselling clinic, virtually, or at my studio in Warkworth. All of these options are available based on preferences, winter weather conditions, and Covid public health requirements.
I am client centered, which means we work in partnership together to provide you the best care. I practice from a CBT/DBT mindfulness and gratitude lens in a creative way that supports authentic care for you and your children. Because I feel it is important to feel a connection with your therapist, I encourage you to book a consultation to ensure Art Psychotherapy is the right fit for you.
